  Dec.15th WT -WTS Expects JW's to Preach Despite Chronic Illness - Sick !

  in the dec.15th jw only version in an article titled " do not let illness rob you of joy " it promotes being a martyr in jehovah's witnesses preaching door to door in spite of debilitating and often life threatening illnesses .

  ask yourself if jesus would have stood with a whip to the back of his disciples if they had these illnesses or medical conditions ??.

  under the subheading entitled " they keep preaching despite chronic illness " with pictures of these alleged sick people sharing how they " sacrifice " to spread the wt society's message i will share the quotes with my takes.. izabella who suffers depression states, " i like the door to door ministry , but when i am not feeling up to it , i engage in telephone witnessing.

  If she's got a brain tumor, she might be going through chemo or other imune suppresant treatment.

  It's the dumbest thing to be out and about in all those germs.

  I knew of a lady with cancer who was going through chemo.

  She'd go to church but sit in the back and leave right away to avoid getting a cold or any other deadly (to her) disease.

  My grandmother beats herself up all the time for not being able to do more more more.

  She's also disgusted with the stories of the walking dead going door to door.

  One sister said at an assembly, "If you can breathe, you can pioneer!"

  Cue thunderous applause.

  They are lying about almost dead people going door to door.

  Saw this thread while looking for another one.

  I was bullied in the 70's quite badly in grade school.

  The effects have lasted a very, very long time.

  My dad was bullied badly, too.

  He's never recovered from it.

  It's a constant struggle to remember that my life has value.

  I'm just very glad we didn't have this technology back then.

  It's doubly bad when you are groomed from birth to be a target for bullies.

  When teachers bullied me and spanked me in school, I got it much worse with the belt at home.

  I'm not sorry for moving away from my family across country.

  Not sorry one bit.

  I just heard on my FB page that a young person from this board shot herself because of bullies and being a JW.

  Can anyone provide a link to the story?

  Halloween as a Jehovah's Witness Kid

  what was your experience like as a kid on halloween growing up in a jw family?.

  i was raised in a jw family but never got baptized.. my father used to make me and my sister put old awakes and watchtower's in the trick or treaters' bags.

  we would say: "i don't celebrate halloween but here's a treat for you!

  Halloween is a Catholic holiday poking fun of the dead condition.

  Death is not scary and holds nothing over me, is the idea, so laugh at it and make a party.

  Okay, that is what I read about El Dia de los Muertos.

  Sounds about right, though, huh?

  My mom put a sign on our door saying, "We don't celebrate Halloween, so we don't give out candy."

  We could hear the kids reading it and asking each other huh? and questions.

  Our car and truck got egged and soaped a few times.

  I always wished that we could dress up and have fun like everyone else.

  Holidays were shoved in our faces yet we couldn't enjoy them.

  It was torture for me.

  Now, I celebrate like a kid as much as possible.

  I hope you are kidding about the nails under the tires.

  So i'm out treat or treating and I come home with a dog! WTFrick??

  so we are out treat or treating and i notice a dog very distressed howling and shaking with fear... so i try and approach her but she starts growling at me.

  carrot rings the doorbell of the house that she is hiding on and the people have never seen her before... quite a few neighbours come out and we eventually win her round... she is terrified and very disorientated.... we scoure the streets looking for her owners but to no avail... all we can gather from her behaviour is that she was most likely thrown from a car... she has not long finished whelping a litter and is clearly distressed... we end up bringing her back for the night and has not left carrot alone... she has been lying on him, licking and kissing him.

  all she has wanted is to be curled up on his lap.... obviously he is her saviour!

  I know you aren't planning to keep her, but the best collar I ever got for my big dog was a head harness.

  It turns the nose in the direction you want the dog to go, and the dog follows its nose.

  Mine is very controllable with that kind.

  She's so beautiful!

  Such a precious "little" thing.

  If you look real closely, you can still see the claw marks on the Khall walls, the result of desperately trying to stay in in spite of them.

  How many ex-JW's are musicians on here?

  just wondering how many of us on here are musicians, what we play, and if we had witness bands and/or performed.

  i have had quite a few funny moments of being in bands that wanted to be cool, but always had to nerf the edginess of any songs we played and watch the noise!

  i played with different elders who loved to rock out, but when they played at a congregation party didn't even want to use overdrive of any kind!

  I sang in choirs and played piano for them.

  Now, I have a djembe (African hand drum shaped like a wine glass) and want to learn to play it well.

  even as a witness,i was uncomfortable talking about everything we believed.

  i remember working with my brother out and service and he found an interested person.

  my brother was sharing information out of the bible teach book.

  Suffered with CD my whole life growing up in it.

  I used to have to get angry and mean with myself to make myself do the right thing and be a good JW.

  It was very difficult.

  it appears that obves started a ton of threads 9 years ago here on jwd/jwn.

  all of them [that i have seen] filled with prophetic utterances regarding determining the end.

  over those years, all the dates have failed.
